A memorable track and field season for the Ashby-Brandon-Evansville girls team was highlighted by a Pheasant Conference title last Thursday.

Ashby-Brandon-Evansville dominated the event, winning with 190.33 points. Ortonville was in a distant second with 116.33 points, while Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley rounded out the top three with 102.

The usual suspects of Megan Friedrich, Caroline Jansen and Heather Strese had a lot to do with that success. Each took home multiple conference titles.

Friedrich won the 100-meter dash in 12.91 seconds and the 110-meter hurdles in 16.74. She was second in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 34-04.

Jansen won the 300 hurdles in 55.38 seconds. She took the long jump with a leap of 15-01.50 and added a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (18.89) and third-place finish in the triple jump (34-02.5).

Strese continued to control the throwing events. The senior tossed a personal best in the shot put by almost two feet with her winning throw of 39-10. She then went on to win the discus with a toss of 99-09.

The ABE relays added to the strong day for ABE with wins in three of the four events. The 3,200 team of Brandi Wolf, Kylee Hansen, Aliza Johnson and Elizabeth Bredberg set a personal best time of 11:40.70. Hunter Plaster, Friedrich, Mariah Hansen and Becca Hansen won the 400-meter relay in 53.07 seconds and the 4x400 team of M. Hansen, B. Hansen, Madison Krupke and Melissa Haseman won in 4:18.

On top of the first-place finishes, ABE's depth carried it to the convincing win at the meet as they finished with nine more top-three finishes.
