Alexandria seniors Bridget Amundson and Lauren Stockmoe finished high enough in the Section 8AAA tournament to advance to the state meet, held at Bunker Hills Golf Course on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 13 and 14.

Amundson finished in 17th place with a two-day score of 160, carding an 80 in each round.

"Bridget saved her best play for the final nine holes, as she recorded a one-over-par 37," head coach Tim Zupfer said. "Her high school career ended with a birdie on her final hole.

Amundson was on the Cardinals varsity team for five years and led the team in scoring average for the past two seasons.

At the Class AAA banquet on Monday, Bridget was awarded all-state honors for her play this season.

Stockmoe finished Wednesday's round with an 83 to go with her day one score of 88, finishing with a 171 on the tournament.

"Lauren also saved her best play for her final 9 holes, as she carded a 40 on her final 9 holes," said Zupfer. "In fact, her round on the second day included 10 pars and a birdie. Her performance the second day saw her improve her move from 50th place to 40th place individually."

By recording higher than a 3.7 grade point average this school year, Lauren and her sister, Elise Stockmoe, were honored as academic all-state performers at the banquet on Monday.
