Tennis: Cards even record at .500 in sweep

The Alexandria tennis team evened its record at 10-10 on the season on Thursday night as the Cardinals swept St. Cloud Apollo in Central Lakes Conference play.

Alexandria dominated the match, never losing more than four games at any spot as the Cardinals swept all seven in straight sets. JJ Foster, Derek Berning, Matt Vogel and AJ Bollman won in the first through fourth singles spots, respectively.

Grant Storm and Eli Simonson teamed up at first doubles to win 6-0, 6-1. Jacob Partington and Wade Smith won 6-1, 6-1 in the second spot, and Hunter Croonquist and Zach Wosepka dropped just one game in the third spot.

Alexandria's final regular season match is set for Friday at the Alexandria Area High School courts where the Cardinals will honor their seniors at 4 p.m. against Detroit Lakes.
