Girls Golf: Cardinals secure conference title at Fergus Falls

Although there is one more Central Lakes Conference meet to go, the Alexandria girls golf team was able to claim the title after another first-place finish at Fergus Falls on Thursday.

The team posted a score of 330, which was 22 strokes better than Sartell and 26 better than Brainerd.

Alexandria senior Bridget Amundson was the tournament's medalist with a 77, carding a 39 on the front nine and a 38 on the back.

"Bridget came out of the blocks on fire, as she birdied her first two holes," Cards head coach Tim Zupfer said. "In fact, she finished the round with 3 birdies. She has established herself as the top golfer in the conference."

Lauren Stockmoe took fourth with an 83, while Elise Stockmoe and Anna Jenson each had 85s to tie for fifth.

Ciara O'Connor and Alli Prestby had respective backup scores of 86 and 91.

With the all-conference team to be named after Tuesday's final CLC meet at Wapicada Golf Club in St. Cloud, Zupfer said Alexandria has "a number of players" in a good position to receive all-conference honors.
