Alex Legion wins summer opener

Alexandria 10, Fargo 0 (F/8 innings)

The Alexandria Legion baseball team won its summer opener in a 10-0 game against Fargo at Knute Nelson Ballpark on Thursday.

Mitch Thompson went all eight innings for Alexandria and tossed a five-hit shutout. He fanned 11 and walked nobody to get his team off to a good start to the season.

His offense gave him plenty to work with. Thompson had two hits himself. Grant Toivonen went 2-for-3 with three runs and added two walks. Toby Helgeson also built off his strong spring season and went 3-for-4 with two walks, while Parker Revering went 2-for-5.

Alexandria will head to Moorhead tonight, Friday, for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is set for 5 p.m.
