The Alexandria girls’ golf team wrapped up another Central Lakes Conference title with an easy win at the league championship meet in Willmar that gave the Cardinals a clean sweep of all four CLC meets.

They did it behind three more scores in the 70s. Emily Thul led the way with a season-low 73. Natalie Amundson shot a 78 and Amanda Bigger was right behind her with a 79.

Bigger, Thul and Amundson finished 1, 2, 3, respectively, in the individual CLC standings to earn all-conference honors. Bridget Amundson also earned All-CLC after finishing 11th in the final standings. Allison Schwartz was honorable-mention all-conference after finishing 16th. Alexandria was the only team to put five girls in the top 20 individually.

Bridget Amundson gave Alexandria its final score on Thursday with a 90. Schwartz shot a 94 and Lauren Stockmoe carded a 99 to round out the lineup. The Cardinals cruised to a 36-shot margin of victory over second-place Rocori in Willmar.

Thul played a big part in that as she continues to play her best golf at the right time.

“Emily had another personal-best round with her even par score of 73,” head coach Tim Zupfer said. “She was actually three-under par with three holes to play. Her double bogey on the final hole prevented her from a sub-par finish. She had a very good ball-striking round, as she hit 15-of-18 greens in regulation.”

The Cardinals were ready to turn their attention to the Section 8AAA meet, which started yesterday, Tuesday, and wraps up Wednesday at the Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre. Alexandria went in as the favorites, but Buffalo was also playing well heading into the meet.
