Alexandria adapted bowlers ready for another state tourney

The Alexandria adapted bowling team will send another talented group to the state tournament today, Friday, at the Brunswick Zone in Brooklyn Park.

The Cardinals have a total of five foursomes entered into the CI team portion of the tournament. The group of seniors Zac Long and Matthew Froemming, sophomore Tyler Rauscher and freshman Dylan Timm boast the highest team average of any team in the field at 437.

There are also 123 boys and 78 girls entered into the CI singles competition and 83 pairs of bowlers in the doubles field. Alexandria has the second most singles players of any school with eight. They also have a total of seven doubles teams ready to compete.

On the doubles side, freshman Abby Neale is back to try and capture another top three finish at state. This time, she will have a different partner after taking third with Austin Ganun a year ago. Neale will be teaming up with seventh-grader Crystal Krohnfeldt during this year’s tournament.

Alexandria also brings back all four members of its PI Division team that placed third in 2013 at state. Eighth grader Lily Hjelle, freshman Stephen McCabe, junior Jack Botzet and senior Kari Berg are all ready to take on another talented field.

The singles competition will kick things off on Friday at 9 a.m. before the doubles competition gets started at 1 p.m. The team competition will then conclude the tournament, starting at around 3:30 p.m. Awards will be presented approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of each category of competition.
