Girls golf sets school record at Rocori

The Alexandria girls’ golf team carded a new school record on Monday with a score of 316 to win the Rocori Invite in dominant fashion.

The Cardinals had three girls in the 70s as Emily Thul led the way with a 74. Amanda Bigger was right behind her with a 75 and Natalie Amundson shot a 79. Thul’s round was a personal best. Allison Schwartz also had her score counted for Alexandria with her round of 88.

“As well as both Emily and Amanda played, they were both frustrated with the double-bogeys they had on their final hole,” head coach Tim Zupfer said. “Emily’s round included three birdies and 11 pars, and she hit 14-of-18 greens in regulation. Amanda’s round included two birdies and 12 pars, while she hit 9-of-18 greens in regulation. Her round only included 28 putts, which I believe is probably a team low for the season.”

Bridget Amundson and Kalley Bistodeau rounded out the lineup by shooting a 90 and 100, respectively. The win left the Cardinals five points ahead of Rocori in the conference standings, well on their way to another CLC title.
