Alex softball sweeps Sartell

The Alexandria softball team got a much-needed sweep of a doubleheader against Sartell on Tuesday night, putting up 24 runs in the process to secure a couple wins in conference and section play.

Senior Sarah Bruzek had a big day at the plate in game two. She had two singles, a double and a home run to go along with two RBIs and three runs scored. Aubree Schmitt and Jana Roste added three RBIs apiece as Roste finished with two singles and a triple. Courtney Bitzan also had a single and two RBIs in game two.

That was plenty of offense for Kaila Dewanz. She got the win by going the first six innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out five.

It was much of the same in game one as Alexandria pounded out 14 hits and finished with 29 total on the day. Carley Dropik led the way this time with a single, double and a home run as she finished with three RBIs. Emily Kuennen added three singles to drive in three runs, while Amy Jost had a single and a triple and three RBIs.

Taylor Ellingson went the distance for Alexandria. She scattered four hits and three walks, while striking out six.
