Alexandria tennis sweeps

The Alexandria tennis team made quick work of St. Cloud Apollo on Tuesday to win its fourth match in the Central Lakes Conference.

Devin Crowe, Brendan Holm, Mark Kallevig and Spencer Vogal all got wins in the singles lineup for the Cardinals. Nick Partington and Levi Duwenhoegger teamed up to win at first doubles. Payton Grandgenett and Andrew Storm did the same at the second spot and Jack Schneider and Graham Hegstad didn’t give up a game at third doubles.

Six of the seven wins for Alexandria came in straight sets as they controlled things from start to finish.

“This was a much better outing for the Cardinals this time around in comparison to the first time we played them earlier in the season,” head coach Dave Ronning said. “Our doubles teams dominated play, giving up just five games total in the three spots. All three teams dictated play and kept the Eagles on their heels the entire match.”

The win moved the Cardinals to 7-10 overall and to 4-7 in the CLC before heading to Detroit Lakes for a triangular last night, Thursday.
