The Cardinals offense jumped out, scoring 13 runs on a total of 15 hits. Grant Toivonen led the Cardinals by picking up three hits, three runs and three RBIs. Toby Helgeson also had two hits to drive in four RBIs.

Head coach Russ Hinrichs said the Cardinals picked a good night to heat up at the plate. St. Cloud Apollo has scored 6.2 runs per game so far this season, the second most in the CLC.

“The Cardinals defeated a good team on Tuesday night as Apollo is the best hitting team we have faced this year, and we needed our bats to pick up the pace set by the pitching staff so far this year,” head coach Russ Hinrichs said.

Blake Stockert started the game for the Cardinals and picked up his fourth win of the season by going five innings, allowing four runs with five strikeouts.

Alexandria is 7-0 against CLC opponents this season and 9-2 overall.
