The Cardinals used 14 top-eight finishes to rack up 67 points. Blaine won the meet with 100 points, while Centennial took second with 84.50.

“The girls saw exceptional talent but didn’t hesitate to show central Minnesota what Alexandria can do,” head coach Meghan Orgeman-Crumb said. “The girls had 16 personal and season bests and 14 top-eight finishes. With such a strong performance, the girls look forward to hopefully having everyone on the track this week for our section true team meet at Buffalo.”

That meet is scheduled for Thursday starting at 2 p.m. with Alexandria going into the meet off another strong performance. Wensia Johnson broke a meet record in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.16 to win that event. The sophomore also took second in the 200-meter dash in 26.49, behind Centennial’s Jedah Caldwell who finished in 25.91.

Alexandria’s other individual win came from freshman JeAnna Miller in the high jump. Miller won that with a jump of 5-00. The 4x100 relay team of Karly Betterman, Tahlia Bowden, Mady Urman and Johnson also won in a time of 50.59.

“This team truly has a culture of hard work and the result of their work clearly shows when it’s time to step up and compete each week,” Orgeman-Crumb said.
