The Alexandria adapted bowling team has perennially been one of the state’s best and this year figures to be much of the same after losing just one letter winner from last year.

The Cardinals will have to make up for the loss of Patrick Takeda from last year. They will do so with a nucleus that includes 10 returning letter winners in Zach Long, Matthew Froemming, McKenzi Klimek, Kari Berg, Jack Botzet, Jared Greene, Tayler Mayer, Jared McDonagh, Tyler Rauscher and Ryan Frick.

“We have many returning bowlers with several years of experience,” head coach Wade Traphagen said. “It’s a great mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen.”

The Cardinals return all four of their PI bowlers in Botzet, Lily Hjelle, Stephen McCabe and Berg. The Alexandria PI team finished third at the state tournament a year ago. Hjelle led the charge with a third-place finish individually, while Berg took 10th in the girls’ state singles and McCabe was seventh in the boys’ state singles.

Freshmen Abigail Neale and Austin GaNun are back to help out with a strong CI Alexandria lineup that went 9-1 last year in team competitions. Neale and GaNun took third in the state doubles competition a year ago.
