Monke's 26 leads Otters past Cardinals

The Alexandria girls’ basketball team was unable to slow down Anna Monke and undefeated Fergus Falls in a 63-52 loss at home Monday.

Monke led the Otters scoring with 26 points, and Amanda Christianson continued her return from injury as she came off the bench and led the Cardinals with 18. Sarah Bruzek finished with 12 points for Alexandria and Brooke Heggie also scored 10.

Fergus Falls came into the game with a perfect 24-0 record, and the Cardinals felt good about the way they stayed with the Otters.

“We left it all on the court tonight, big time,” head coach Wendy Kohler said. “I think we made a statement tonight, Fergus Falls knows we’re here.”

The Cardinals saw first hand why Fergus Falls has been so dominant this season. They also felt the game was a good test to show they can play at the Otters’ level.

“They are a team of three main players, is what we figured out,” Bruzek said. Those three can shoot, they can drive and they can rebound.”
