Alex girls’ soccer 11-0 in CLC

The Alexandria girls’ soccer team got back on track after only its second loss of the season early last week by beating Fergus Falls 1-0 on Thursday and Willmar 7-0 on Saturday.

With the two wins, Alexandria secured its 10th shutout of the season. The Cardinals didn’t allow a goal all season at home on Lincoln Field. The win against Willmar gave Alexandria a sweep against Willmar this season as Alexandria outscored its Central Lakes Conference rivals 14-2 in those contests.

Alexandria and Fergus Falls played in some wet and cold conditions in Fergus Falls as the Cardinals got just enough offense to stay unbeaten in CLC play.

Emily Korkowski had the game’s only goal after Anna Spanbauer found her with a pass and Korkowski beat the Otters’ keeper on a 20-yard shot. That came 16 minutes into the second half before senior keeper Sarah Bruzek and the defense took care of things to close out the win.
