Sartell soccer downs Alex boys

The Alexandria boys' soccer team ran into a tough Sartell-St. Stephen team last Thursday and fell 6-1 to drop to 1-2 on the season.

The Sabres scored in the second, 10th, 25th and 40th minutes to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the break. Alexandria answered with a Dan Kuhn goal in the 59th minute, but Sartell answered right back, scoring in the 62nd and 74th minute to put the game away.

"The boys had a much better second half and worked to play some very nice ball," head coach Cahil Collins said.

Sartell had 15 shots on net. Zach Lamb turned aside nine of those in the losing effort.

Alexandria was scheduled to welcome in Sauk Rapids-Rice last night, Tuesday, before going to St. Cloud to face Apollo tomorrow.
