Blue Anchors baseball: Alex prepares for final home-stand

The Alexandria Blue Anchors struggled to get the bats going in La Crosse Tuesday night, losing their second interleague game against La Crosse 10-0.

A pair of singles from Albert Baur and Aaron Gretz were the Blue Anchors' only two hits of the night.

The pitching staff did not fare well against La Crosse, a team that is four games out of first place in the South Division of the Northwoods League. Corey Fitzgerald picked up the loss after giving up seven earned runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Andy Johnson pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief and gave up one earned run. Ross Slaney also pitched two innings in relief, giving up two earned runs.

The Blue Anchors' final stretch of home games will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday against Waterloo. It's the first of six straight at Knute Nelson ballpark with their final home game coming next Friday at 7:05 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season at Thunder Bay.
