Alexandria's clay target team had an excellent week two of competition, sweeping 24 of 24 points in Conference 9A to move from second place to first.

"I was hoping for a three-point gain on first place McGregor High School, but with great individual and team shooting scores, we were able to pass the McGregor team by one point by [picking up] four points," said coach Scott Green.

"I'm very happy with the performance of the team, [especially with] the poor weather conditions we have had to deal with all spring. All 31 Alexandria athletes have made all competition shoots and they understand the importance of team competition."

Sam Pederson, an 8th grader, was the high gun shooter in Conference 9A for week two.

"This shows the depth of talent on the team that we have," said the coach. "Sam also shot his first 25 straight this year. Sam and captain Andrew Rentschler made this week's top 25 shooters for the statewide shooters high gun list."
