Resorters Golf Tournament: Adams family searches for second title in Junior 10-12

An Adams has a chance at capturing another Junior 10-12 Division title today.

A year after Christopher Adams took home the 2011 crown, his younger brother, Nathaniel, will try to keep it in the family after punching his ticket to the division finals with a win over Starbuck's Isaac Burgess yesterday.

Adams will have to go through Alexandria's Elliot Amundson if he's going to capture that title after Amundson took care of fellow Alexandrian Hunter Rebrovich on Friday. Here is a look at how both players got to the finals before they tee off from the 10th tee at 8:30 this morning.

Adams def. Burgess, 4-3

Adams played like the top seed in the division on Friday as he took an early lead and never looked back against Burgess.

Adams went 1-up after a win on the 10th hole. Burgess then opened the door for him on 12 after his approach shot went into the rough just to the right of the cart path. Adams took advantage of that on his way to another win.

Burgess couldn't recover from a rough start to his match. Adams played with a lot of poise once he got the lead. He stuck his approach shot on 14 in the middle of the green and putted his way to another win that put him 3-up. Adams put things away after that, using his third straight win on 15 to end the match with three to go.

Amundson def.

Rebrovich, 2-1

Amundson will join Adams on the tee today after he played just a little bit better than Rebrovich on Friday morning.

Quick starts always help, but they are especially beneficial in a nine-hole match. Amundson got off to that fast start by winning the first three holes with two pars and a bogey. Rebrovich got into some trouble in the sand on 11 and shot over the green attempting to get out of it. That opened the door for Amundson who was able to take advantage.

"He won the first three holes," Rebrovich said after the match. "On nine hole matches, that's tough to come back from."

Rebrovich did his best to do just that. The two players pushed on Nos. 13, 14 and 15 before he cut his deficit to two on 16 with a bogey win. That's as close as Amundson would let him get though as he put Rebrovich away on the 17th after both players parred.
