Resorters baseball: Tigers take two in opener

The Miltona Tigers opened their season with a 2-1 win over Ashby behind a strong start from Shawn Krueger before coasting past Kensington 17-1 this past weekend.

Krueger was in complete control in his first start with the Tigers on Saturday. He had a shutout going into the ninth before Ashby got its lone run of the game. Krueger allowed just two hits in the complete-game victory. Ryan Emter and Ryan Silbernick both scored for Miltona.

Things came a lot easier a day later in Kensington. The Tigers' Chris Koep held the Norseman in check for five innings to pick up the win on the mound. He struck out eight before John Mohror relieved him in the sixth and worked the final two innings.

The Tigers made things easy for them on offense. They pounded out 20 hits. Cody Curry, Sam Steidl, Jake Leuschke, Mark Whiting and Silbernick all had three hits apiece. Krueger added two, while Jake Munsch, Dalton Leuschke and Mohror added a hit apiece.

The Tigers will host Osakis at Bernie Steidl Field on Saturday before heading to Knute Nelson Field to take on the Alexandria Senators on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
