One-mile fun run

The Alexandria Senior Center is holding a one-mile fun run as a fundraiser on July 2 at 9:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.

Walkers, bikers, runners and those in wheelchairs are all invited to join the event. Participants will meet at Big Ole. Cost is $20 with a T-shirt included.

Eagles Horseshoe fundraiser and bean bag tournament

The Eagles Horseshoe Club is hosting a fundraiser pork chop feed and bean bag tournament on Saturday, June 28.

The fundraiser will take place at the Eagles Club on 29 North in Alexandria. Pork chops on the grill will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. with the bean bag tournament starting at 6 p.m.

Cost is $10 per team with cash prizes going to tournament winners.

FCA Lakes Area Endurance

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Lakes Area Endurance fundraiser is scheduled for June 27 and 28.

There will be a family fun run and 5K on the evening of June 27. Then a quarter and half marathon will be held the following morning on June 28.

Shalom Runs

The Shalom Lutheran Church runs are scheduled for Saturday, July 5, with a 5K, 10K, one-mile walk and 1K kids run taking place that day.

Registration for the races starts at 7 a.m. with the 5K and 10K beginning at 8. The one-mile walk will start at 8:05 and the kids’ run will take place at 9:10 with all of them taking off from the Shalom Lutheran Church at 681 Voyager Drive.

Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids ages 12 and younger. All proceeds go toward Shalom’s Good Samaritan/Benevolent Fund.

Volunteers needed for Special Olympics bocce tournament

The area Special Olympics bocce team will host a tournament at Voyager School on July 15 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m.

Volunteers are needed for the tournament with many shifts available to help on the court. Training and lunch are provided.

Sunday night adult summer league tennis

The Alexandria Area Tennis Association will be holding a free adult summer tennis league on Sunday nights at the Discovery Middle School courts. A drill session will start at 6 p.m. for those who are interested, and league play will begin at 7 p.m.

Players are free to only come for drills, league play or both. The first league night was Sunday, June 15.

Fundraiser golf scramble

The “Carpenter’s Crew” of First Lutheran Church in Alexandria is hosting a nine-hole golf scramble on August 3 to benefit the Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build home this summer.

Teams will consist of four people, men or women, with a shotgun start at 2 p.m. at Hardwood Hills Golf Course. Cost is $50 per person and includes nine holes of golf, a shared cart, burgers, door prizes and a $30 donation supporting the Women Build home project. There is room for 10 teams in the scramble.
