Ashby wins with strong second half

The Ashby girls’ basketball team used a strong second half effort to pull away from Rothsay in a 50-28 win on the road Friday.

Ashby only led by four points at halftime, but in the second half the Arrows picked up its rebounding numbers and scored 32 points. Head coach Troy Mickelson was happy with the play of Kerstyn Schroeder as she grabbed nine rebounds.

“Tonight the tone of the game was set by sophomore Kerstyn Schroeder,” Mickelson said. “She played extremely hard and played with a presence in the post.”

Cassandra Jordan led the Arrows’ offense with 12 points. The win improved Ashby to a 2-8 record overall this season.
