Alex dance invite tomorrow

The Alexandria dance team will host its annual competition at Jefferson High School on Saturday.

Doors open to spectators at 8:45 a.m. with the Class AA/AAA jazz competition set to start at 9:30. A total of 31 area schools will compete and perform a total of 97 dance routines in the jazz and kick divisions. The Alexandria Just for Kix dancers will also perform.

The Class AA/AAA awards program is schedule for about 1:40 p.m. with the Class A jazz competition set to start at 2:30.

Tickets are good all day and are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Alex girls’ hockey fundraiser

The Alexandria girls’ hockey program will hold a chili and burger feed and a silent auction on January 10 from 5-8 p.m. at the Alexandria Eagles Club.

Tickets for adults are $8 and $5 for children ages 5-12. Children ages 4 and younger will get in free. The tickets are available at the door or by contacting a girls’ high school hockey player.

The Echo Press is looking for ice fishing photos from readers throughout all of this winter’s ice fishing season.

Send us a photo, along with a detailed story behind your catch, including what lake the fish was caught on and what day. Some photos will go into the Outdoor Section in the print edition of the Echo Press and all of them will be put up online.

Northern Diamonds Academy baseball clinics

Alexandria’s Caleb Curry will be hosting a baseball league and camp later this winter for area youths.

Curry, a former draft pick by the San Francisco Giants and now the director of the Northern Diamonds Academy, will have a Lil’ Hammers Baseball League for those in grades 2-6 on the dates of February 22, March 1 and March 8. The Saturday leagues will run from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Discovery Middle School gymnasium. There will be 45 minutes of construction followed by 60 minutes of life game action. The cost is $75.

Curry will also host an area baseball camp on March 8 at the DMS gym. Grades 6-8 will run from noon to 2:30 p.m. with grades 9-12 going from 3-5:30 p.m. The cost is $30.

WCA basketball tournament

West Central Area will hold a basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades 4-6 on Saturday, March 15.
