Sports roundup from Monday, December 9

Ashby 68, New York Mills 42

The Ashby boys' basketball team got its first win of the season on Monday night, beating New York Mills 68-42.

Zach Barry was on fire from behind the three-point line as he hit 6-of-9 shots from deep on his way to 18 points, four steals and three assists. Blake Ohren has been good all season for Ashby and he was again on Monday, collecting a triple-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Gage Olson added 12 points and Jeff Berglund finished with 11.

"I thought our starters set the tone early with our defense by getting a lot of deflections and causing turnovers," head coach Jeremy Knick said. "We kept them from getting into any sorth of rhythm, which was one of our goals tonight."

The win moved Ashby to 1-4 on the season. The Arrows will be at Henning this Friday night.
