It was one of two moves the Blue Anchors announced in a release as they also named G.G. Freitag the director of sales and marketing for the organization. Both Freitag and Hughson will begin their duties with the team immediately.

Hughson“Kendall’s previous experience, along with his vision, is exactly what we were looking for,” co-owner Scott Allen said. “We are excited for the upcoming season. His experience within the league and knowledge of the day-to-day operations make him the right fit to lead the team.”

Hughson is a graduate of Minnesota State University-Mankato and is originally from Apple Valley. The summer of 2014 will be his fourth season in the NWL. His previous three years were spent with the Waterloo Bucks as their assistant general manager/director of stadium operations. He is taking over for former Blue Anchors general manager Joe Dempsey.

“I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to take over as the general manager of the Blue Anchors and cannot wait to start working toward bringing the Northwoods League title to Alexandria,” Hughson said in the release.

Freitag is a longtime resident of the Alexandria area and was previously employed by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce as the members relations manager.

Freitag“Coming on board with the Blue Anchors is truly an exciting endeavor,” she said in the release. “Having this organization in our own community is just another reason why we all love living and vacationing here. I couldn’t be more proud to represent the team, the owners, the Northwoods League and our field manager, the great Twins player, Al Newman.”

Freitag was lauded for her ability to form relationships and her extensive marketing knowledge that the team will use in its sales and marketing.

“G.G. has been a fixture in the community and we could not be happier to have her join our team,” co-owner Shane Schmidt said. “The Anchors want to build consistency in the community, and she fits the mold to help us do that.”
