Gymnastics: Cardinals take fifth in CLC

The Alexandria gymnastics team landed in fifth place with 136.225 points at the Central Lakes Conference tournament in St. Cloud last Saturday afternoon.

"The Cards earned solid scores for vault and bars but put up lower than typical overall scores for beam and floor," assistant coach Nichole Boyden said.

Junior Sydney Gray and senior Joslyn Kent both got 9.1 on vault. Sophomore Kaylee Meyer followed with 8.95, sophomore Caitlin Bright put up 8.8 on vault and senior Abby Forester scored an 8.35.

Kent led the team on bars with 8.925, followed by Gray with 8.725 and freshman Rachel Boyden with 8.3. Bright scored a 7.425 and Meyer took home a 7.125.

Gray paced the team on beam and floor with 8.3 in beam and 9.3 on floor. Meyer grabbed an 8.2 in beam followed by Kent with 8.15. Bright scored a 7.925 and Forester got 7.85.

Boyden scored an 8.775 on floor and Kent earned 8.325. Meyer scored 7.925 and Bright took 7.875.

St. Cloud Tech, the host team, took first place in the CLC with a score of 149.25. Sartell took second with 149.15.

Up next for the Cardinals is the Section 8, Class A tournament in Perham on Feb. 17.
