The Brandon-Evansville boys basketball team got back into action after the holidays with a 48-39 win at New York Mills on Tuesday.
The Chargers (5-3) have won with their defense, and that's what they did against the Eagles (2-6). It marks the fourth time this season that Brandon-Evansville has held a team to 40 points or less in a win.
"I thought we played with some urgency tonight," Chargers head coach Trent Hintermeister said. "I was happy with our defensive effort once again. We are just a grind-it-out type of team that needs our defense to be good so it can help our offense get going."
Brandon-Evansville shot 41 percent (18-43), including 4-of-12 from three.
Senior forward James Strese had a team-high 15 points to go with five rebounds. Senior guard Taylor Bitzan added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists, while sophomore forward Tanner Bitzan chipped in nine points and four rebounds.
The Chargers jump back into Little Eight Conference action on Thursday night at 7:15 when they welcome Battle Lake (5-3) to Brandon.
