The Alexandria Nordic ski team is finally finding enough snow to get in some competition as the Cardinals went to Spidahl's Ski Gaard in Otter Tail County near Erhard for a six-team meet on Tuesday.
Brainerd, Bemidji, Ottertail, Detroit Lakes and Trek North joined them there as the Alexandria girls finished first as a team, and the boys varsity took second.
Bethany Miller paced the girls as the sophomore finished in second place with a time of 18:56. That was one of four top-10 finishes for the Cardinals as Kaisa Bosek took fourth (19:32), Carli Vrchota was fifth (20:09) and Emma Reineke finished seventh (20:45). Olivia Hagstrom (26th, 25:59) and Kamryn Coauette (30th, 27:08) rounded out the lineup.
Junior Noah Struck paced the Alexandria boys with a fifth-place finish in 16:23. Teammate Jackson Wichtendahl was right behind him in sixth place (16:35). Nolan Christenson finished 13th (18:35), CJ Schlosser 14th (18:39) and Shaun Mateer 15th (18:43). Patrick Lovrien rounded out Alexandria's lineup in 23rd place (20:23).
