Volleyball: Cardinals end regular season with a win

The Alexandria volleyball team ended its regular season with a three set victory over the Otters in Fergus Falls on Tuesday night.

The Otters pushed the Cardinals all the way to 30 points before the Cards could secure a victory in the first set. Courtney Gould put the finishing touches on the night with a match-winning kill in the third set. The Cardinals gathered in intensity and took the second and third sets, 25-17 and 25-15.

Mya Lesnar was back from missing the Cardinals Thursday game. Lesnar led at the net with nine kills followed by Mac Duwenhoegger, Kendra Hardy and Mia McGrane with eight kills each. McGrane and Hardy had 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Libero Devany Johnson had seven digs for the Cards and three aces on the night.

This victory makes the Cardinals final overall season record 14-12 with a Central Lakes Conference record of 7-5 and a Section 8AAA record of 6-5.

The Cardinals are seeded fifth in Section 8AAA in QRF rankings. Section play opens on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
