Volleyball: WCA scores conference victory over Owls

The West Central Area volleyball team defeated Hancock in the Knights' last Pheasant Conference match of regular season play in Barrett on Thursday night.

The Knights took the first two sets 25-16. The Owls snuck a 25-21 win in the third set but the Knights won the match in a 25-17 fourth set victory.

"We started out strong," WCA coach Amy Linn said. "We let up a bit in the third set but came back to finish the match."

Senior Brianna Kreft had 17 kills on the night, followed by senior Morgan Woodle with 13. Gabbi Beukens and Demara Bumgardner each had six blocks at the net. Kaitlyn Sanstead had a team-leading 24 digs in the match.

This victory ups the Knights' overall record to an even 10-10 with a conference record of 3-5.

The Knights host the Parkers Prairie Panthers (18-8) for the last match of regular season play on Monday, Oct. 16 at 7:15 p.m.
