Volleyball: Osakis clicks on all cylinders at Upsala
The Osakis volleyball team headed to Upsala on Thursday night for its last Prairie Conference match of regular season play. The Silverstreaks took home a win in three decisive set victories.
"We did a good job of coming out ready to play," Osakis coach Kirsten Wessel said. "Our defense was persistent, relentless and consistent. We really played together well tonight and it was a total team effort."
The Streaks took the first set 25-21. With that winning momentum, they took the second and third sets, 25-17 and 25-21.
"We made some good adjustments throughout the match and some smart, aggressive offensive decisions," Wessel said.
Tianna Stanek had a team-leading eight kills on the night. Cynthia Van Acker and Maddie Johanson each had seven kills. Stanek also had a team leading 17 digs followed by Emma Johnson with 14. Harlie Falzone had three aces.
"We played like a well-oiled machine," Wessel said. "It's nice to be coming together like this at the end of the season as we near playoffs."
This victory advances the Silverstreaks overall record to 8-14 with a conference record of 6-4.
Osakis wraps up regular season play with a tournament in Sartell on Thursday, Oct. 19. Tournament play opens at 9 a.m.
