Volleyball: Knights back to .500 after third win in four matches

West Central Area continued to play some of its best volleyball of the season lately as the Knights won their third match of the last four by taking Rothsay in four sets Thursday.

The Tigers (7-12) won the first set 25-13, but the Knights (9-9) controlled things from there, winning 25-18, 27-25, 25-10.

"It was a nice win for the girls after a tough match on Tuesday night against CGB," WCA head coach Amy Linn said. "The girls had a great night on defense and serve receive. As a team, we average a 2.0 on serve receive and had a total of 117 digs."

Brianna Kreft led the way from the back row with 30 of those digs. Kaitlyn Sanstead added 19. Morgan Woodle had a team-high 15 kills, while Kreft added 14 and Gabbi Beuckens finished with five blocks defensively.

The Knights are at Wheaton next Tuesday before hosting Hancock on Thursday. Both matches start at 7:30 p.m.
