Volleyball: WCA falls to CGB in conference match
The West Central Area volleyball team traveled to Graceville on Tuesday night and walked away with a four set Pheasant Conference loss at the hands of the Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines.
"The Knights never really got into a rhythm," WCA coach Amy Linn said. "We spent most of the night on defense and struggled to get our offense going."
The Wolverines took the first set, 25-8. The Knights secured a second set victory, 25-22, but fell to CGB in the third and fourth sets, 25-11, 25-13, respectively.
Kaitlyn Sanstead led the WCA defense with 23 of the team's 76 total digs and a 2.1 average serve receive. Brianna Kreft had 14 digs and Kaleigh Anderson had 11.
"Our back row did a pretty good job of covering the court," Linn said. "But we couldn't find a way to put the ball away."
The Knights served 90 percent and had 32 total kills and nine blocks on the night.
This loss drops the Knights' overall record to 8-9 with a conference record of 2-4.
WCA hits the road again on Thursday, Oct. 5 to play Rothsay (7-11) at 7:15 p.m.
