Volleyball: Chargers drop LEC match to Ashby
The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team was handed another Little Eight Conference loss by the Arrows in Ashby on Thursday night in four sets.
"It was a tough match for us," Chargers Coach Kelly Olson said. "Ashby played hard from point one, and we just never could get on a roll. Give credit to Ashby. They outplayed us."
The Arrows (2-8, 1-3 Little Eight Conference) took the first two sets away from the Chargers, 25-16 and 25-17.
"Serving plagued us once again, hitting only 82 percent for the match," Olson said. "We also struggled with simple free ball passing. We had miscommunication all night on the court and we tried to find a bit more balance in our offensive attack, but failed to do that."
The Chargers managed to grab a third set win, 25-22, but the Arrows responded and took the fourth set 25-21.
Brandon-Evansville had a total of 43 kills. Senior outside hitter Allie Satterlie led the team by a wide margin with 20 of those. They had nine aces as a team and 39 total digs.
"We had too many tips when we should have been attacking at the net. We had miss set balls, poor defense, and pile that on top of getting out hustled all night and we get what we had tonight, a loss," Olson said.
This conference loss brings the Chargers' overall record to an even 7-7 and their conference record to an even 2-2.
The Chargers play a nonconference match on Monday, Sept. 25 at 7:15 against the West Central Area Knights (4-7) in Evansville.
