Volleyball: Knights lose to Ortonville in four sets
The West Central Area volleyball team tried to turn around a tough Pheasant Conference matchup against the Ortonville Trojans but were denied a win Tuesday.
The Trojans took the Knights in four sets. After a slow start resulting in losses for the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-18, the Knights had a mini-turnaround in set three. They beat the Trojans, 25-15. The fourth set was neck-and-neck through the end but the Trojans pulled out a win, 28-26.
"We played much better in sets three and four but it was not enough to pull out a win," WCA coach Amy Linn said. "As a team we did improve our block and we are beginning to cover our hitters better."
Junior outside hitter Morgan Woodle had a good game for the Knights. She lead the Knights with 13 kills on offense and 24 digs on defense.
The four-set loss brings the WCA Knights' overall record to 4-3.
The Knights head to Barrett on Thursday, Sept. 14, to play the Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines at 7:30 p.m.
