The Ashby boys basketball team ran into one of the top teams in the Section 6A field on Friday night as Ortonville handed the Arrows a 70-34 loss.
"Tonight was the tale of two halves," Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. "In the first half, we were playing our game, knocking down shots and getting stops on defense. We were only down 32-25 at halftime to a very good basketball team. In the second half, we ran out of gas. These are tough, hard-working kids, but they have a limit and we just couldn't keep playing at the level we needed to keep it close. We had a good week of basketball and now we need rest and we will regroup for Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday."
Sophomore guard Scott Johnson had 15 points for Ashby. Roland Fossell added eight points and four rebounds. Jaden Norby finished with six points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Dakota Ecker added six points and three rebounds, while Christian Koefod (four rebounds) and Christian Norby (four rebounds, five assists) also chipped in.
