The Ashby boys basketball team ran into a hot Battle Lake squad on Friday night as the Battlers (11-2) won their ninth straight game in a 65-29 final.
"We were able to match their energy and got off to a decent start for the first several minutes of the first half," Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. "We were tied 20-20 and then Battle Lake put on a press and went on a huge run to finish the first half. In the second half, we were just gassed. You could see we were tired. Having only seven guys to play during a three-game week is tough, but we are learning and gaining valuable experience every night."
Ashby (2-10) had only three players score on the night. Sophomore guard Scott Johnson had 15 points and two assists. Dakota Ecker added three triples for nine points and Roland Fossell finished with nine points and four rebounds. Christian Norby also contributed four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
