Alexandria 3, Granite City 2
The Alexandria Blizzard won its third straight game Saturday night, stealing an overtime win over West Division-leading Granite City 3-2 at the Runestone Community Center.
Connor Nilson found the back of the net for the game-winning goal in the second minute of overtime, with Josiah Roen and Riley Meyer picking up assists. Nick Lucas and Brett Meister scored the regulation goals for the Blizzard (20-10-0).
The win brings Alexandria within a point of second-place Breezy Point (20-11-1), which is the team they play at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday at the RCC.
Alexandria 72, Willmar 53
The Alexandria boys basketball team beat Willmar 72-53 Saturday night to move to 7-2 on the year.
Willmar fell to 7-5 with the loss.
Alexandria heads to Big Lake on Tuesday for a 7:15 game against the Hornets.
Brandon-Evansville 44, Hawley 34
Brandon-Evansville ran by Hawley in girls basketball action Saturday night, topping the Nuggets 44-34.
The Chargers improve to 7-2 with the win, while Hawley falls to 3-7.
B-E is back in action at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts underwood in Brandon.
