Boys basketball: Arrows compete but fall to 8-0 Hillcrest

The Ashby boys basketball team played close with one of the top teams in the Section 6A field on Thursday night as the Arrows fell 55-43 to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.

The Comets are undefeated at 8-0, but they couldn't completely shake a now 1-7 Ashby team. Hillcrest led 30-22 at the break after a Sean McGuire three. The Comets didn't separate much further than that after halftime but had enough to secure the win.

"I thought we played really hard tonight," Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. "We did so many good things to keep this a competitive game. For the most part, we executed the game plan that we came with."

Scott Johnson had 16 points and four rebounds to lead the Arrows. Jaden Norby added four points and 14 rebounds.

"The real spark for us tonight was Rolland Fossell with 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench," Knick said. "I thought he and Noah Johnson came in and both played very valuable minutes tonight. When I look at tonight's game as a whole, I am very proud of our overall effort."
