Murder charges reinstated in 2013 stabbing

Blue Anchors season wraps up this weekend

A 6-1 loss to the Madison Mallards on the road Monday extended the Blue Anchors’ recent losing streak to six games.

Starting pitcher Blake Bass was charged with the loss after allowing nine hits and four earned runs in five innings. Madison scored two runs in both the third and the fifth innings to grab an early 5-0 lead.

The lone Blue Anchors run came on a solo home run by Jordan Lee in the sixth inning.

The recent six game losing streak started for Alexandria on Wednesday in a 6-5 loss to Willmar on the road. The Blue Anchors then dropped four games against Eau Claire and Duluth from Thursday through Sunday at home before playing Madison on the road Monday.

The season wraps up with a four-game home-stand that continues with a game against Waterloo tonight, Friday. The Blue Anchors will then wrap up the schedule against Rochester at home with games on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.


Three Blue Anchors players saw action in the second game of the Northwoods League’s Big League Showcase doubleheader on Tuesday evening in Madison.

Jordan Lee went 1-for-3 in the game as the North team’s leadoff hitter, driving in one RBI and also drawing a walk.

Craig Nennig went 0-for-3 in the game but scored a run after drawing a walk.

Jason Zgardowski pitched a scoreless inning in the game, allowing one hit but striking out one batter.
