Early lead disappears for Blue Anchors in Mankato

Mankato 7, Alexandria 4

The Alexandria Blue Anchors (8-23) couldn’t overcome an early deficit as a two-run lead after an inning and a half turned into a four-run deficit after four as Mankato (18-14) secured a 7-4 win on Friday night.

The MoonDogs scored four runs in the third inning. They handed Jason Zgardowski the loss as he went just 3 1/3 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on seven hits and two walks. He struck out two before Graylon Brown and Aaron Rozek combined to limit Mankato to just one run the rest of the way.

Aaron Gretz led the Blue Anchors at the plate as he went 3-for-4. Jordan Lee extended his hitting streak to seven games as he went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

The Blue Anchors are scheduled to be back at home today with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch against Waterloo at Knute Nelson Ballpark.
