Blue Anchors lose series opener in La Crosse

La Crosse 10, Alexandria 5

The Alexandria Blue Anchors fell to 4-19 on Wednesday night in La Crosse as the Loggers pounded out 13 hits and used three Alexandria errors to win 10-5.

The Blue Anchors had 10 hits of their own. Roman Collins was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Jordan Lee was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two run scored, while Lukas Hermanson and Jake Bergren each added two hits as well.

It wasn’t enough as La Crosse used a five-run seventh inning to break open a tie game. An error on what could have been an inning-ending double play extended that rally for the Loggers before Nash Knight busted the game open for La Crosse with a two-RBI double that made it 10-5.

Spencer Koopmans got the start and allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings. Rob Mouton took the loss after working two innings and allowing five runs, three earned, on a walk and three hits.

These two teams will play against tonight, Thursday, with a 7:05 first pitch in La Crosse.
