Blue Anchors add pitcher Zgardowski

“I believe coming to Alexandria will be a great opportunity to play in one of the best collegiate summer leagues in the nation,” Zgardowski said. “Hopefully I can help bring a league championship to Alexandria.”

Before attending Angelo State, Zgardowski played two seasons of junior college baseball at Midland College in Midland, Texas. During his time there the school finished in second place at the JUCO World Series. Zgardowski went 9-0 as a sophomore at Midland and set a school record with eight complete games in 11 starts.

“Adding Jason to our pitching staff gives us another big bodied pitcher that should fare well in our ballpark,” General Manager Kendall Hughson said. “He had success at Midland and is having a great season so far for the Rams. We look for more of the same this summer.”

Born on September 27, 1993, Jason is originally from San Antonio, Texas, and is the son of Al and Becky. Jason enjoys spending his free time with his 4-month old son, Jason and fishing.

The Blue Anchors will open the 2014 season on Tuesday, May 27 in a home game versus the Mankato MoonDogs.
