Dancers take two firsts

The Alexandria dance team went to Fergus Falls for a quad and came back with a couple of first-place finishes on Tuesday night.

The Cardinals had their full roster at their disposal for the first time this season and danced to wins over Melrose, Fergus Falls and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in both the jazz and kick competitions.

“The varsity kick team competed first and had their best performance of the year so far,” head coach Christine Reilly said. “They are improving their overall execution of the routine as well as improving their kick height. It was the first meet of the season that we had the entire team competing. Previous meets, team members have been out due to illness and injury. It was great to have the entire team on the floor finally.”

The jazz team is working to clean up their routine but still had enough to earn a first-place vote from all the judges.

“We had some unexpected errors but overall the team had good energy and it was enough to pull off a win,” Reilly said. “It was a decisive win in both divisions. All judges had Alex in first place.”
