Area volleyball: Ashby 3, Parkers Prairie 2

The Ashby volleyball team needed five sets but they were able to pick up a conference win over Parkers Prairie at home on Thursday.

Ashby picked up wins in the second and third sets before winning the deciding fifth set 16-14. Head coach Andrea Knick said strong serving and attack from the team’s middle hitters helped the Arrows come out on top.

“I am so proud of our girls for fighting and working hard for this win,” she said. “We knew it would be tough, and we didn’t give up tonight.”

The middle hitters led the Arrows’ offense with Alexis Ness picking up 13 kills and Paige Nelson finishing with eight. Cassandra Jordan led the Arrows’ defense with 34 digs.

With the win, Ashby’s conference record improved to 3-4.
