Foley 5, Osakis 2

A battle of two top-10 Class A tennis teams in the state went to Foley on Monday night as Osakis dropped its first match of the season in a 5-2 loss.

Foley is ranked sixth in the latest polls and Osakis is second, but the Falcons defended their home courts and earned three wins in the singles lineup to help secure the win. Ashley Kraemer had the Silverstreaks' only win in singles play with a 3-6, 6-0, 10-5 win at the fourth spot. Foley took care of the other three matches in straight sets.

Osakis' other win came at third doubles in three sets. Elyse Wiener and Morgan Silbernick persevered for a 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 10-7 win. Alexa Hoffarth and Katie Anderson dropped their first doubles match in three sets, while Katelyn Foster and Peyton Garcia lost in two at second doubles.

The Silverstreaks are now 15-1 heading into a home match against Sauk Centre tonight.


Alexandria 1, Willmar 1

The Alexandria boys' soccer team moved to 4-8-2 overall with a 1-1 tie against Willmar on Monday night.

Alexandria trailed 1-0 at the half before Devin Crowe scored on a goal that was assisted by Kevin Roedel in the 75th minute. Neither team could find the back of the net in overtime.


Minnewaska 3, KMS 2 (25-22, 20-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-10)

The Minnewaska volleyball team outlasted Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Monday night by winning a fifth set 15-10.

Ariel Ostrander had a team-high 10 kills for the Lakers and Emma Middendorf and Allison Hoeper each added eight. Ostrander also added 31 digs and Taylor Amundson finished wit a team-high 32 assists.
