Update: Woman dies in Alexandria apartment fire

Cards stay undefeated in CLC play

A 1-0 road win over St. Cloud Tech last Thursday helped the Alexandria girls’ soccer team remain in first place in the Central Lakes Conference.

After neither team scored in the first half, goalkeeper Sarah Bruzek kept the game scoreless with a diving save on a penalty kick with 29 minutes left in the second half.

The Cardinals scored the only goal of the game five minutes later when Haley Burns netted a goal off a pass from Anna Spanbauer. Bruzek made eight saves in the game for the Cardinals.

Alexandria was next scheduled to play second-place Sartell-St. Stephen Tuesday afternoon in Sartell. Their next home game is this Thursday against Sauk Rapids-Rice.

The Cardinals are 7-0 against conference opponents this season and 9-1 overall.
