Cardinals stay undefeated in conference schedule

The Alexandria volleyball team picked up another conference victory on the road last Tuesday in five sets over Rocori.

After the Cardinals won the first set 25-23, Rocori won the next two 25-20 and 26-24. This forced the Cardinals to come from behind to earn the victory. They won the fourth set 25-21 and the fifth 15-13.

"The Spartans' height at the net as well as scrappy defensive play did not make last night's win easy," head coach Becky Schlichting said.

The Cardinals' offense was led by Liz Schultz with 20 kills and Kalley Bistodeau with 14. Amanda Christianson had 30 digs on defense and the senior helped lead the team through big points in the match.

"Her tenacious defense and 'never let down' attitude provided a much needed spark and key defensive plays in crucial moments," Schlichting said.

Amanda Haack helped fuel the Cardinals' offense with 50 set assists in the match.

The win put the Cardinals at 3-0 in the season against Central Lakes Conference opponents. They continued their CLC schedule on Thursday at home against Fergus Falls.
