REGION 14C BASEBALL TOURNAMENT
Carlos 9, Clarissa 4
The Carlos Cougars will play another weekend after eliminating Clarissa with a 9-4 win in the loser's bracket of the Region 14C tournament on Sunday.
It was the fifth time this season that the Cougars have beaten the Flyers. The win sets up a match-up with Perham this Friday at 8 p.m. in Perham. The loser goes home and the winner will take on the Bluffton Braves with a trip to the region championship on the line.
REGION 16C TOURNAMENT
Urbank-Parkers Prairie 7, Brandon-Evansville 6
The Brandon-Evansville Bluedogs saw their hopes of earning a state tournament bid come up short after falling 7-6 to Urbank-Parkers Prairie in the loser's bracket of the Region 16C tournament on Sunday. With the win, the Bombers earned the right to take on Dent this Friday at 8 p.m.
Willmar 6, Alexandria 1
Willmar's Andrew Woeck threw a gem on Sunday as the Stingers beat the Blue Anchors 6-1 as Alexandria dropped two games on Sunday.
Woeck was dominant in tossing a one-hitter as he struck out 12 in a complete-game performance. Kris Goodman had the only hit for the Blue Anchors with a double that drove in a run in the top of the ninth.
Waterloo 12, Alexandria 1
Things didn't go much better for the Blue Anchors in the first game of their doubleheader on Sunday.
Alexandria had nine hits in this one but only scored a single run in the first inning. Keegan Dale and Albert Baur were 2-for-4, while Ryan Blanchard drove in the Blue Anchors' run with a double.
