Youth baseball team win state tournament

The Alexandria Area Storm youth baseball team took first place in the 11AA Gopher State Tournament of Champions last weekend in Rogers.

The local team, which is made up of kids from both Alexandria and Osakis, won all six games in the tournament, beating Eastridge, Chaska, North Branch, Prior Lake, Eden Prairie Red and Burnsville Gold.

The team will receive championship rings during the Twins game on September 14 at Target Field. Alexandria is now 19-0-1 on the season. They will be competing in the Minnesota Sports Federation State Tournament on July 26-28 in Mankato.

Alexandria players are Shay Endres, Andrew Revering, Riley Simonson, Kade Blankenship, Matthew Carlsen, Matthew Zick and Wyatt Snitker.

Osakis players on the team who competed at the Gopher State tournament include Hunter Infanger, Luke Imdieke and Carter Rost. Daniel Savageau helped the team qualify for the state tournament but was on vacation and couldn't play during the Gopher tourney.
